I love how this is implemented, both the mechanic and the flavor. I would like to see more variety in the game effects at a given cost level, as they make the choices more interesting: Alchemist's Robes or Explorer's Tunic, hmm... Faelan Sunlance or Steel Halberd, hmm... The challenge there is probably balance, i.e. making the choice non-obvious.

Two ideas for the vault.

1) Equipment Changes
One really easy way to implement it--especially if you're in multiplayer and are always hopping from quest to quest, is to be able to access the vault at any time, and outfit your character however you would like to. However, the changes wouldn't take place until you beat the current quest. Then the changes you picked would automatically take place, even if the quest leader right away clicked on a new quest as soon as the current one ended. It would probably be useful to have an email sent to the character that would let them know that the equipment changes have taken place.

2) Vault Sorting
It would be quite useful to be able to filter/sort the vault. Basically by weapon/armor type. You could use filters to turn on or off different types, then you could use sorting to put the highest, or lowest value at the top of the list (including Renown).

3) Requirements Not Met Color
Kind of nitpicky, but I think having the text stating what the requirements for an item you can't use should be in red. Stereotypical? Probably, but effective.

Either way, I absolutely love this addition. You came up with a great way to make it work without breaking or confusing the system!

Thanks for all the feedback, everyone. It's great to hear so many of you say you like the implementation.

We'll definitely be making a change so that all party members will have an opportunity to visit the Vault. We also plan to offer more varied items in the future, though we want to reserve some special abilities for when we introduce items that you can find on quests and in other locations.

That's an option we've considered. One drawback to it is that you'd often miss out on the opportunity to take advantage of the Renown gained at the end of your current quest. We could work around that by letting you select a "wish list" of items to receive as soon as you acquire enough Renown, but that becomes complicated: do you want that 500 Renown piece of armor enough to downgrade your other equipment, or only when you have the Renown to spare?

We'll be doing more here. As a starting point, we'll most likely sort by item type within each of the Renown tiers.

We were just experimenting the other day with making the requirements orange-red when you don't meet them. We also want to make it possible to see requirements you do meet, as otherwise it's not always clear why certain items require more Renown than others. Expect us to do something in this area, though some other tasks are currently a higher priority.

Just adding a "visit the armory" button alongside the "onward" button in the "your party has started a new quest" dialog would be helpful.
